The Agreement for Transdev to Acquire First Transit is Finalized Effective Today. Transdev Becomes Leading Private Operator of Transportation in the U.S.

Effective today, Transdev’s acquisition of First Transit is officially complete – following all the necessary regulatory approvals. The two companies are now part of the same company and will operate under the Transdev brand moving forward.
The expanded Transdev is now the leading operator of safe, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly public transportation services in the U.S., across a variety of transit modes, including fixed route bus systems, paratransit, shuttle services, rail, light rail and fleet maintenance.
“One of the great elements of this transaction is that it enhances Transdev’s ability to support public transit authorities in the U.S. in their energy transition towards decarbonization, as we continue to provide affordable mobility solutions to our local communities,” commented Laura J. Hendricks, CEO Transdev U.S.
Transdev’s newly expanded entity in the U.S. now includes operations in 43 states (including Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico). The company now serves 400 cities and communities, operates 17,300 vehicles, 340 of which are electric, and has an expanded workforce of 32,000.
“We look forward to integrating our new colleagues into Transdev and showing our new and existing clients and partners how, together, we will continue to deliver on our Purpose to empower the freedom to move through safe, reliable and innovative solutions that serve the common good,” added Hendricks.
