New High-Tech MetroRapid Service Begins in Austin

CINCINNATI, OH – First Transit has partnered with Austin’s Capitol Metro in the recent launch of MetroRapid, Capital Metro’s new high-tech, high-capacity transit service. This new service now provides transportation to the densest and highest ridership transit markets in the Greater Austin region.

“These new buses are beautifully equipped with the most advanced technology in the marketplace,” says Thomas. “This is something we’re all proud of.” To assist passengers using the service – and its latest technology – for the first time, Capital Metro had nearly 200 staff members (including team members from First Transit) and volunteers at MetroRapid stations and onboard vehicles during the first week of service to answer questions, demonstrate the new mobile ticketing app, and help riders plan their trips.
