SARC Recognizes First Transit for its Service to the Community

CINCINNATI — First Transit’s Santa Cruz, Calif., location was recently recognized by the San Andreas Regional Center (SARC) as this year’s “Service Provider of the Year” for the vendor who consistently provides exemplary services and support to people with developmental disabilities. First Transit provides paratransit service to 170 consumers and operating more than 70,200 trips per year throughout the area. Riders consist of people with developmental disabilities, who rely heavily on this service for transportation to and from their homes and day programs. With 22 vehicles and 20 employees, First Transit focuses on providing safe and reliable transit service to the community.

“My staff and I are very proud to have received this recognition,” said Camilla Shaffer, general manager. “We take pride in our work here and are always eager to lend a helping hand to our riders. This is a wonderful recognition to receive and we look forward to much more successes in the future.”

First Transit’s Santa Cruz staff will receive their award Saturday, Oct. 13, at the 14th Annual Service Above Self Awards dinner hosted by the San Andreas Regional Center Board of Directors.
