Norma Zamora Elected President of the Texas Transit Association Board of Directors

 First Transit Employee Elected to Texas Transit Association Board of Directors

Norma Zamora elected president of the premier statewide transportation association.

CINCINNATI—The Texas Transit Association (TTA) recently named Norma Zamora, general manager of the Brownsville Urban System (BUS), president of its board of directors. The board of directors consists of five members elected from the general membership, representing metro, small urban and rural transit operators.

“I am honored to be elected into this position,” Zamora said. “I look forward to working with the TTA membership to implement creative ideas that advance the industry.”

Zamora joined First Transit in 1993. She began management of the BUS in 1998 and currently oversees 84 employees and the operations of 22 fixed-route buses and 11 paratransit buses. She is responsible for the planning and construction of an international multimodalfacility to assist in the expansion of bus service in the area. Zamora is also responsible for the management of grant funding for her city’s public transportation system. In June, she was named the state’s Outstanding General Manager of the Year by the TTA.   

Zamora attended Texas A&I University - Kingsville where she received a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Zamora is a native Texan, raised in Robstown, Texas.
