CINCINNATI—First Transit, Inc., a leading private provider of transit management and contracting services, has been awarded a six-year contract to provide full paratransit service for Portland’s TriMet transit service. First Transit is part of Cincinnati-based FirstGroup America, North America’s largest transportation company.
The $137 million transit contract includes the complete operation of 269 paratransit vehicles, as well as the management and operation of a centralized call center for reservations, scheduling and dispatch. The contract takes effect in February 2010.
“TriMet is one of the most robust transit systems in the United States,” said Brad Thomas, president of First Transit and First Services. “We look forward to building on this strong tradition as we provide Portland-area residents with safe and reliable paratransit services.”
