Transit agencies around the world are confronted with the challenges of population growth, congestion, unmet service needs and limited capital funding. Facing these issues, agencies have turned to innovative public mobility solutions, including Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).
First Transit and our parent company, FirstGroup plc. are proud to have been at the forefront of this exciting new development in public transportation. BRT uses modern, comfortable vehicles for high volume corridors that efficiently transport riders. BRT systems have frequent service, limited stops, dedicated lanes, signal priority, and off-board fare payment.
Nationwide, First Transit operates BRT services through our fixed route and commuter express contracts. BRT service enhances travel through characteristics such as the use of dedicated busways, guideways, or high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes; high-capacity vehicles with stops to main transit centers; short headways; and priority signals at intersections.
Why First Transit?
