CINCINNATI, June 17, 2009— First Transit, Inc., a leading private provider of transit management and contracting services, has been awarded the ADA paratransit transportation contract for NJ TRANSIT's Access Link program. The Region 5 operation will be based in Union Township, N.J., beginning June 13, 2009. First Transit is part of Cincinnati-based FirstGroup America, North America's largest transportation company.
The contract is a 3-year agreement that includes the operation, maintenance and management of a fleet of 87 ADA paratransit buses serving the Newark area, including Essex, Union, Hudson, Somerset and Morris counties.
