CINCINNATI, OH – First Transit increased their campus shuttle portfolio with the addition of the University of Texas at El Paso. This contract started September 1, 2007 and runs for seven years. UTEP has an annual ridership of 3,000 students on 11 vehicles and 24 employees. The contract with UTEP has a first year value of about $1 million.
Effective October 15, Karen Walton will take over the reins as the General Manager for this contract, utilizing her experience as Assistant Director at Sun Metro. This contract fits in nicely with Sun Metro, the transit system in El Paso, TX currently contracted with First Transit. Sun Metro has a ridership over 12 million a year on fixed route and paratransit services.
